Leadership Team

Randy Haviland, RPBio., P.Biol., QAES

Principal, Senior Biologist


Randy is a professional biologist, registered with both the College of Applied Biology and the Alberta Society of Professional Biologists. With 14 years of experience in biological field assessments, Randy specializes in wildlife and fisheries studies and monitoring programs for oil & gas and mining clients across western Canada. His expertise extends to various stages of project approvals, including initial desktop screenings, designing, and implementing biophysical field programs in compliance with provincial and federal legislation.

Throughout his 14 years in the environmental consulting sector, Randy has been instrumental in securing project-specific approvals from government agencies. His contributions encompass a wide range of submissions: environmental assessments, cumulative effects assessments, environmental as-built reports, technical proposals, TEK studies, and oil and gas project proposals. Randy also has technical expertise in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), statistics, and the design of studies for biological fieldwork and monitoring programs.

Randy’s experience also extends to stakeholder engagement and consulting. He has worked on large-scale projects in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and the Northwest Territories, collaborating with numerous First Nation groups, landowners, government entities, and private organizations. His approach to project coordination and field programs is inclusive and communicative, addressing ongoing socio-economic concerns. As a member of the Metis Nation Randy places particular emphasis on Indigenous engagement, incorporating traditional ecological knowledge, and addressing concerns related to historically sensitive areas.
