The Challenge of Watercourse Crossing Projects

Meeting both provincial and federal requirements for watercourse crossing projects is a recurring challenge. Regulations designed to protect fish, fish habitat, and riparian values constantly evolving, making it difficult for project proponents to ensure full compliance. Successful assessments require not only detailed knowledge of potential ecological impacts but also a clear understanding of how construction and operational activities can impact aquatic ecosystems and species at risk. Without this specialized knowledge, projects risk delays, additional costs, or unintended harm to the very resources these regulations are designed to protect.
